They may think they know what they want to do, but they have no idea how to get there. They need more than just classroom training. They need mentoring! Luckily, for students at universities in Austin, TX, they now have an opportunity to learn from a mentor in the field they want to go into.

Apprentice Austin is a new program developed by the Austin Young Chamber of Commerce. The primary purpose of Apprentice Austin is to develop tomorrow’s young professionals and the future leaders of Austin. This purpose ties into the mission of the Austin Young Chamber, the largest young professional organization in Central TX. Through Apprentice Austin, the hope is too not only find each participant jobs in Austin upon graduation, but also to provide the expertise, insights, and connections to have a successful career in the students field of interest. Each student that participates in Apprentice Austin will be paired up with a mentor. The mentors are prominent professionals from the community who stand to get a lot from the program as well.

SOS Leadership has partnered with Apprentice Austin and has helped develop some of the materials and curriculum for both mentor and apprentice. The program fits perfectly with the mission of the organization, which is to develop leaders that make a difference. Both the mentors and apprentices are leaders who are striving to make a difference in the Austin community and it is a pleasure to be a part of this.
