At seven years old Billy Moyer began his career in the professional development industry making a presentation to a group of 40 franchisees. This was the achievement of a goal he set when he was six. Today, Billy is the President and Chief Operating Officer of SOS Leadership and has spoken to more than 200 organizations in the past five years.
“The heart of leadership is influence. If you can influence the lives of other, you are a leader,” Moyer said.
While there have been many influencers along his leadership journey the most significant influence began at a young age; with his father and SOS Leadership Chief Executive Officer Bill Moyer. As a kid Billy would travel to watch his dad speak around the country and saw the impact that his dad had on the lives of people. It was during this time of his life that he decided that he wanted to be just like his dad, with one particular goal in mind, to make speeches and help people grow.
Being a part of the professional development industry allows for Billy to be a servant leader in his community and make an impact on the lives of others. This simple principle is what brings him back to work every day, meeting with clients and being the leader of the organization. People are the center of the professional development industry and the ability to make a difference in the lives of people both professionally and personally, Moyer says makes it all worth it at the end of the day.
Through the numerous years of speaking and working in leadership development, Moyer continues to list publishing his first book, Seeds of Success: A Journey from Success to Significance as one of his proudest accomplishments. Why you ask? It comes back to the family atmosphere within the culture of SOS Leadership. His dad had allowed for him to reach and achieve his goals as a child and now it was Billy’s turn to help his dad achieve his goal of publishing his first book.
There aren’t many opportunities to see family organizations at play in the world today. Bill and Billy Moyer have made significant impacts on the lives of people all around the world and continue to do so in the family business today.
